On last Sunday’s game against the Colts:
Defensively we only played one half of football, and to beat good teams in the future we can’t have games like that.

This is day 1 of my online journal.
I am hoping to have something to share with you every week about the game we just played, the one coming up, and anything else that comes to mind ... as my schedule allows.

Syracuse Head Coach Paul Pasqualoni took time this morning
with Keithbulluckfanclub.com's Lauree Leyland, to discuss
Keith's years as a member of one of the most prestigious
college football programs in the country.
Here's what Coach Pasqualoni had
to say:
What was your first impression of Keith?
A very shy young man who had an enormous potential, and
who probably wasn't at that point as a young player aware
of how good he could become.
What, if anything, did Keith do to change that impression?
He actually played safety in his freshman year, but little
by little as he got better, we moved him closer to the ball.
Over time as he developed confidence and knowledge of what
he was doing, we moved him to the weak side (will side)
linebacker position. In his senior year, through need, we
put him in the middle linebacker position.
You could see he had great range and could cover a lot
of the field. It was soon very clear to us that he was the
ideal nickel linebacker
on 3rd down Keith was the
ideal linebacker to have on the field. With the speed and
the range he could cover, there were not backs that could
get away from him.
Are there qualities you've seen in Keith you believe
a young fan could do well to emulate?
I would say that Keith is a very honest young man. He is
a very sincere guy. He's a guy who made a big commitment
not only to his football years at Syracuse, but his academics
as well and maximized his time here. Keith didn't waste
time. He made some very good choices and matured and developed
the ability to make good choices as the years went on.
What do you believe was Keith's greatest struggle during
his time at Syracuse?
Just being able to develop the ability to trust us.
I'm not sure he originally trusted everyone when he came
here. I'm not sure he was convinced initially that we were
in this to help him
one, to be a good football player
two, to help him earn his degree
and three,
to help him with his career, personal growth and development.
But as the years went by, I believe he grew to trust us.
What do you believe was Keith's greatest moment during
his time at Syracuse?
Keith had some great years here, and was involved with
some outstanding teams at Syracuse. His greatest moments
here were just being a part of a great tradition and great
players who have come to Syracuse
some of the legends.
And at the rate Keith is going, he is going to become one
of those legends
a part of the Syracuse football
tradition.
He never beat around the bush when it came to his studies.
He was determined to get his degree
so maybe the
greatest day here at Syracuse was the day he got his degree.
What is the one thing you hope that Keith took away
with him as a result of his time with you at Syracuse?
We hope that whie he was here, here he learned an approach
as to how to go about things. Understanding that there is
no easy way in life. There are no short cuts
there
are no gimmicks to success. We hope he learned about commitment,
hard work and most importantly, the ability to persevere
and to hang in there. The ability to never give up and keep
fighting back.
If you are able to follow Keith's career now, is there
anything that stands out in your mind as particularly impressive?
I think the level of maturity that Keith has reached impresses
me the most. The last extended time I spent with him was
at Donovan Mcnabb's wedding, and at our spring game here
at Syracuse. His nephew, K. J. (Kelvin) Smith, plays here.
Just sitting down and talking to Keith, the level of maturity
is impressive. His commitment to the Titans, his commitment
to being the best linebacker in NFL, and his understanding
of what it takes to reach those goals. His being involved
in the community and giving something back is all a part
of the maturity I see in Keith.
Is there anything about Keith you believe fans would
be surprised to know?
He's a real shy guy.
Can you think of any humorous or interesting stories
that involve Keith and his time at Syracuse?
Only that when he came here as a safety, I don't think
he ever envisioned his senior year being the middle linebacker.
As it turned out, it was probably the best move for him.
It was unlikely, but it was great development and training
for Keith, and it prepared him somewhat for that position
in the NFL.
Is there a message you would like to send to Keith
that we can share not only with him, but his fans as well?
From my perspective of this, and I don't get to read or
hear everything about the Titans, but it seems he has been
a positive contributor and influence on the Titans organization
and community. He's developed leadership skills and ability,
and I hope that rubs off on the community there.
